Waltz Of The ToreadorsBy Jean Anouilh |
  |
Produced: June, 1982 The Kohler Arts Center has a recital hall with a hard plaster curved back wall and a reverse curved stage front, forming an oval stage. This production was part of a summer play series. The fun of this arrangement is the network of patrons and available insurance for borrowing substantial antiques, some of which even came from the Kohler mansion. The challenge in this play, for those who aren't familiar, is the fact that a principal character spends the entire play in the bed, and is only visible for one scene in which her husband intends to kill her. She is frequently heard throughout the play, nevertheless. I based the design on a period '20s French deco style, but wanted to keep it sensuous. |
