The director specifically wanted the reality of the back yard, but I didn't want to render it all. I didn't see full scale exteriors as being theatrical, but I had to find a way around the bombed-ruins or big-bite look. I focused on representing cleanly the important and iconic elements, and dismissing the rest. I still try to make positive realistic statements instead of cutting away as a compromise to realism.
