The BacchaeBy Euripides |
Produced: December, 1984 This Laboratory Theater production was done somewhat as an etude on classical Greek production. The setting was simple, built out over the orchestra pit, with The Minoan bull was an apparition shape through a scrim with appropriate lighting effects at the height of the bacchanal. Pentheus' body parts were red fabric soft sculpture. A lot of effort went into mask work for the actors and mask-makers. The masks were made mostly from Celastic before its dangers were understood, shaped over papiér maché and modeling clay forms. |
