This actually was fun. A set of a realistic empty room, and somehow suggest it's a New York appartment - and still make the design interesting and fun. The challenge also is to embody the story in the set, which means searching for every thread in the dialogue that can be tease out a setting idea.

There probably aren't too many 3-step-down apartments like this, but it was one of those sitelines conventions. This set is constructed on the apron and over the orchestra pit so that the set for the following musical could take shape behind the act curtain.
